MyNotifi Product Disclaimer

This disclosure is provided by MedHab, LLC solely for informational purposes pertaining to its MyNotifi™ device.

THIS DISCLOSURE IS MADE TO INFORM HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS, PATIENTS, AND OTHER USERS OF CERTAIN ASPECTS OF FALL DETECTION AND RANGE OF MOTION MEASUREMENTS RELATIVE TO THE USE OF SENSORS EMBEDDED IN THE MyNotifi™ DEVICE. THE INFORMATION CONTAINED HEREIN HAS BEEN PREPARED TO SPECIFICALLY HELP USERS UNDERSTAND THE LIMITATIONS AND PROPER USE OF INFORMATION CAPTURED BY MyNotifi™.

MyNotifi™ employs a 3-axis sensor embedded in the device along with unique pre-programmed algorithms to make range of motion measurements and to detect and report falls. Range of motion algorithms are specifically designed to make measurements based on degrees of movement by the user, and the data is captured and tracked over time. Fall detection, on the other hand, is event-specific and requires a complicated artificial intelligence algorithm specifically designed and tested to measure, identify and understand data indicating a fall and to communicate to third parties when a fall has occurred.

Range of motion exercises, and tracking thereof, are designed to help the user maintain or gain range of motion and strength in the upper and lower extremities. Although published data shows that decreases in range of motion and speed of motion are directly linked to an increase in the chance of falling, the role played by exercise in preventing falls is not fully understood. The MyNotifi™ device does not prevent falls, either itself or through association with performing exercises, but the performance of exercises should help the user gain strength, range of motion and speed of motion that in turn should help to avoid falls. As with any exercise regimen, a physician should be consulted to confirm that the user is able to engage in the contemplated exercise regimen prior to using MyNotifi™.

Fall detection is a relatively new science and the use of artificial intelligence, although not perfected, in conjunction with wearable technology is becoming more common. Although developmental testing has shown the MyNotifi™ fall detection artificial intelligence algorithm to be accurate to within a reasonable error tolerance, nuances of individual human movements may cause false alarms and it is possible that the MyNotifi™ device may not detect and transmit notice of a fall in some circumstances.

BlueTooth low energy wireless communications technology and Wifi wireless communications technology, both of which are based on limited-range radio transmission and reception, are the means by which the MyNotifi™ device connects and transmits data and other information, including without limitation notification of a fall, to the user’s mobile smart telephone or other receiving device through which such data and other information ultimately can be made available to the user and to the user’s network of caregivers. If at any time BlueTooth or Wifi connection is lost, is intermittent, or is too weak to transfer data and other information, MyNotifi™ may be unable to communicate such data and other information, including notification of a fall, to the user’s mobile smart telephone or other receiving device and thus such information may not be made available to the user and to the user’s network of caregivers in a timely manner or at all.  Neither BlueTooth nor Wifi technology can provide completely reliable connectivity in any given circumstance, whether in or out of doors, and both technologies are affected by, among other things, inherent limitations on range within which communications can be conducted successfully, local environmental factors such as active and passive radio and electrical interference from lightning, solar flares, other weather events, and other natural and man-made sources, and interruptions of electrical power service.

MyNotifi uses the GPS (Global Positioning System) in your smartphone to discover your location. At times, the location provided by your smartphone will not be available or may be inaccurate, leading to inaccuracies reported by MyNotifi. The MyNotifi application employs a technique by which it attempts to discover a more accurate position in the time after an emergency event (fall detection or help request) occurs. If a new, more accurate location is discovered, MyNotifi will report this new location to your group of caregivers.

MEDHAB IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST, INTERMITTENT OR WEAK CONNECTIVITY BETWEEN MYNOTIFI™ AND A RECEIVING DEVICE, OR FOR INACCURATE GPS LOATIONS, OR FOR ANY RESULTING FAILURE TO TRANSFER DATA OR OTHER INFORMATION, INCLUDING NOTIFICATION OF A FALL, TO A RECEIVING DEVICE IN A TIMELY MANNER OR AT ALL.
